While “The Bear” is currently in production on Season 3, sources confirm to Variety that FX is already cooking up Season 4, which will film back to back with the third season.
FX renewed the Chicago-set restaurant dramedy for Season 3 in November and has not announced a Season 4 renewal. A spokesperson for the network declined to comment.
“The Bear” Season 3 is gearing up for a June premiere on Hulu, as various paparazzi shots of the ensemble filming in Chicago have leaked over the last couple of weeks. It’s unclear whether the fourth season of “The Bear” will be its last.
Season 3 is poised to ride the momentum of the series’ triumphant awards season, which saw Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach clean up at the Primetime Emmys, where creator Christopher Storer also won the top prize for comedy series, as well as for outstanding directing and writing for Season 1. White and Edebiri also picked up Golden Globes and SAG Awards, among other honors, for Season 2.
The series, which also stars Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Abby Elliott and Matty Matheson — and has featured a starry lineup of guests including Jon Bernthal, Jamie Lee Curtis, Bob Odenkirk, Will Poulter, John Mulaney, Olivia Colman, Sarah Paulson, Molly Ringwald and Joel McHale. In its second season, Carmy (White) works to transform his family sandwich shop into a fine dining establishment while balancing a budding romance, as the rest of his kitchen staff find deeper meaning in their craft.
