What Happened To The Original Cast Of Dallas?

The CBS soap opera, Dallas, has garnered a dedicated fanbase that spans across generations. The cast of the show also holds a deep affection for it, as they recently came together in Palm Springs to commemorate the milestone anniversary. During the celebration with PEOPLE, they reflected on the impact of Dallas and paid tribute to late co-stars such as Larry Hagman.
Linda Gray, known for her portrayal of Sue Ellen Ewing, fondly recalled how the show fulfilled viewers’ desires for an engaging storyline, suspense, and something to eagerly anticipate. Patrick Duffy, who played Bobby Ewing, drew parallels between Dallas and contemporary hits like Succession and Yellowstone, emphasizing that it was Dallas that paved the way for such shows. “It all started with us,” he affirmed.

Larry Hagman


Throughout his career, ventured into various acting opportunities following the conclusion of the original Dallas series. However, his portrayal of the iconic character J.R. Ewing remained a prominent highlight until his passing at the age of 81. Hagman reprised this breakout role in the 90s TV movies J.R. Returns and War of the Ewings, and once again in 2011 when the series was rebooted by TNT.
In 2011, Hagman revealed that he had been diagnosed with stage 2 throat cancer, more than 15 years after undergoing a liver transplant. Sadly, he succumbed to complications from his cancer in 2012. Nevertheless, his legacy continues to endure through the memories shared by his co-stars and friends.
