John Goodman Looks Unrecognizable Showing Off 200-Lb. Weight Loss

John Goodman’s weight loss secrets
The father of one began his weight loss journey in 2007, after vowing to live a healthier life by quitting alcohol and changing his diet. Although he failed sometimes, John was not discouraged and kept at it with the help of his trainer, Mackie Shilstone who placed him on a “Mediterranean-style eating plan.” John’s meals primarily consist of fruits and vegetables, fish, nuts, and olive oil.

The actor also works out six times a week, completing between 10,000 to 12,000 steps daily. “In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just go back to my old habits,” he told ABC in 2017. “This time I wanted to do it slowly. Move, exercise. I’m getting to the age where I can’t afford to sit still anymore.”

Despite John’s progress in his weight loss journey, he believes there is no stopping as he needs to maintain his success. “I took it slow. I just wanted to change my lifestyle,” he told Howard Stern, adding that his decision remains “an ongoing process for the rest of my life.”

The 71-year-old hopes to switch up his routine ahead of summer “where I can get some stuff done.”
“I’ve just let everything go just because I haven’t had the energy because of the jobs,” he recently told Rolling Stone, adding that boxing has become his favorite lately. “It’s just hitting the mitts and trying to learn,” he clarified. “I never got good enough where I would trust myself to spar because once I get whacked in the face, I don’t know if I wouldn’t lose it.”
