Melanie Hawkes, from Perth, Australia, has been in a wheelchair since she was three.
As a toddler, she was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, which is a neurological condition in which the spinal cords have become inflamed.
For a long time, Hawkes never thought she would be intimate with someone.
But this would change when Hawkes got Covid-19.
While isolating at home, her support worker massaged her and it was the first time she had been touched ‘intimately like that.’
She told the BBC: “It kind of just opened my eyes to the fact that maybe I could experience this.”
The support worker suggested that Hawkes use an escort.
