Marvel Slammed For ‘Whitewashing’ Doctor Doom After Casting Iron Man Star Robert Downey Jr.

Marvel is receiving criticism for the casting of Doctor Doom. During the San Diego Comic-Con on July 28, the audience was surprised when a person dressed as the supervillain revealed himself to be Robert Downey Jr. The 59-year-old actor announced to the unsuspecting fans that he enjoys portraying complex characters. Filmmakers Anthony and Joe Russo are set to direct two Doctor Doom movies – Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The Russo brothers have been involved in some of the most successful MCU films, including Avengers: Endgame. Joe Russo mentioned at Comic-Con that they initially thought Avengers: Endgame would be their final project in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
