The CEO of Levi’s is warning people to never wash their jeans.
It is widely accepted that washing your clothes should be done after wearing them a few times. However, the frequency of washing jeans is a topic that sparks debate. Luckily, Charles ‘Chip’ Bergh, the president and CEO of Levi Strauss & Co., has shared his expert opinion on the matter. Levi Strauss & Co. is a renowned clothing brand valued at approximately $5.82 billion, according to Stock Analysis.
Levi’s is most famous for its jeans, although the company also sells T-shirts and jackets. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Bergh would be an expert on caring for denim. In a 2014 interview with Fortune, the CEO advised that denim doesn’t need frequent washing, and he even went 10 years without washing one of his favorite pairs of jeans, as reported by The Evening Standard. However, when his comments were taken literally, he clarified to CNBC that he never said not to wash jeans, but rather that true denim enthusiasts prefer not to use a washing machine.
