The bodybuilder complained of chest pains to his wife ahead of competing
A Brazilian bodybuilder has died not long after competing in an event, leaving his friends and family shattered.
Antônio Souza was a 26 year-old bodybuilder who had begun participating in contents only five years ago. However, the young man had been training since the age of 15.
He had initially started as a way to help better provide for his mother and sister.
On 3 August, ahead of competing at the Navega Open in Santa Catarina, Souza had told his wife, Yone Silva, that he had a ‘strong pain feeling in his chest’.
Finishing top three in his category, he was able to win a trophy – but while on stage, he reportedly suffered cardiac arrest.
