“I ran upstairs, I grabbed my pistol and then I came outside and I asked ‘what’s going on’ and the girl screamed ‘I’m 15 help me’, so I pointed my gun at him and told him to get off her.
“He took his hands off her right away, and he went chasing after her, so I went chasing after him and she got away, she went to someone she knew’s apartment.”
Garza added: “I was scared too I’m not going to lie but she needed help more than I was afraid so I had to do it.
The incident was caught on camera, and in the recording he can be heard yelling at the offender ‘hey hey, hey come here’, before he starts running in their direction.
One of Garza’s young female neighbors has praised his efforts, telling the TV station that he saved the teen from being raped.
She said: “At first, I was scared, because I literally thought she was going to get raped. I think if he didn’t come out, she probably would have got raped or something.”
Garza has since been dubbed a local hero for preventing the attack from going any further.
It is understood that the teen was on the bus with the attacker. When she got off, he followed her into the gated apartment complex.
It was while inside the community, where a neighbor who knows the girl explained to the outlet that she was on her way to visit a friend, that he launched his vile attack.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office have released a picture of the man police wish to speak to in relation to the attack.
They stated that the suspect was wearing a black hoodie with a white Reebok logo, blue jeans, and white tennis shoes at the time of the attack.
