Olympic coach has heart attack celebrating gold medal win as medics rush to save his life

Tulkin Kilichev was in the midst of celebrating Hasanboy Dusmatov’s gold medal victory when he unexpectedly collapsed. The coach’s joyous Olympic festivities took a frightening turn as he transitioned from elation over his athlete’s achievement to suffering a heart attack. Representing Uzbekistan, Kilichev was reveling in Dusmatov’s success in boxing when the celebration took a tragic twist. The duo was experiencing the pinnacle of Olympic glory until disaster struck. While they were jubilantly cheering in the warm-up area, their excitement quickly shifted to urgent calls for assistance.

At that moment, Team GB physiotherapist Robbie Lillis and Dr. Harj Singh hurried to the scene to find Kilichev in cardiac arrest. The medical team immediately initiated CPR and utilized a defibrillator in an effort to revive him. The 41-year-old was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he is fortunately reported to be recovering and in stable condition. However, how did such a joyous occasion turn into a crisis? Lillis recounted to the media, “There was a call for a doctor, for assistance. Harj was the first to respond, and I followed with the emergency trauma bag we always carry. Many coaches were visibly shaken by the situation, so it took us a moment to clear them from the area.”
