During the stadium run, a spectator approached the Top Gun actor, Tom Cruise, and leaned in for a kiss. Although the Hollywood star did not seem to resist the woman’s gesture, the kiss was certainly unconventional. Reactions from Olympic viewers on social media have been mixed. One Twitter user commented, “Just look at the closing ceremony; Tom Cruise allowed fans to kiss him and run their fingers through his hair—now that’s true class from someone who values his fans.” Another user concurred, stating, “She gave him the classic French double cheek kiss—perfectly acceptable in France.”

Not everyone shared that sentiment, as one individual remarked, “That was an overly aggressive approach. No one should ever treat another person like that, whether they are a celebrity or not. You simply don’t approach and kiss someone, especially a stranger, in such a manner, and certainly not twice. It’s incredibly disrespectful to impose yourself on someone like that. Tom Cruise, on the other hand, is exceptionally gracious.” Another observer added, “Such behavior exemplifies the worst type of audience members. They show complete disregard for personal boundaries.” During the closing ceremony, Cruise made a dramatic entrance by abseiling from the stadium roof, landing on the field to receive the Olympic flag from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Team USA gymnast Simone Biles. A pre-recorded segment then showcased the Hollywood star traveling from Paris to the sunny state.
The footage featured Cruise soaring above the Atlantic Ocean before leaping from an aircraft and hoisting the Olympic flag at the Hollywood sign. The exhilarating sequence was complemented by the sounds of California’s renowned Red Hot Chili Peppers. Many observers noticed Cruise shooting near the Hollywood sign in March, with most assuming he was working on a commercial. In reality, the 62-year-old was engaged in filming for the LA 2028 handover event.
