Tragic Loss of Parents of Six During First Family Vacation

During their inaugural family trip to Florida, Brian Warter, 51, and Erica Wishart, 48, who are parents to six children, faced an unimaginable tragedy. On June 20, a devastating incident occurred while they were swimming near Hutchinson Island with two of their children. Despite the adolescents managing to save themselves, Brian and Erica were swept away by the powerful ocean currents. Emergency responders initiated rescue operations upon their arrival, however, despite their best efforts, Brian and Erica were tragically pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, unable to be revived.


On the day the couple tragically lost their lives, the water conditions were perilously unsafe. Cory Pippen from Martin County Fire Rescue reported that red flags were displayed along the beach to caution swimmers about the dangerous riptide conditions. These flags serve to inform beach visitors of potential aquatic hazards, such as strong rip currents.
