Henry Fieldman, a London native, has achieved a remarkable feat by representing Team GB twice at the Olympics. He made history at the Paris 2024 Olympics as the first Olympian to win medals in both men’s and women’s races. In Tokyo, he played a crucial role as the coxswain for the men’s eight rowing team, helping them secure a bronze medal. For those unfamiliar with rowing

terminology, the coxswain is responsible for steering the boat and providing direction to the rowers.
Fieldman’s impressive track record included two World Championship titles and two European titles prior to his participation in Tokyo. This year, his past success played a crucial role in making history. In 2017, World Rowing modified its regulations to permit coxswains of any gender in a rowing team. Thanks to this rule change, Fieldman was selected to lead the women’s eight team at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Following a fourth-place finish at the 2023 World Championships, he guided the team to qualify for the Olympics. During the Olympic Rowing Regatta in Paris, the team elevated their performance and secured a medal.
