Many children seek the freedom to express themselves and pursue their own interests, but Steve’s children have matured into remarkable young adults who truly reflect their father’s spirit. I can only imagine the immense pride Steve must feel looking down on them. Another person expressed their sentiments, stating, “My heart aches! The loss of Steve Irwin continues to sadden me deeply. He revolutionized our perception of animals, both the less appealing and the adorable, and captivated us far more than any previous animal show host. He played a significant role in our lives as my children were growing up! I’ve always envisioned taking my kids to Australia to visit the Australia Zoo and meet the incredible, selfless Irwin family!” A third individual remarked, “What an impressive speaker at such a young age. He is undoubtedly making his father proud.” Robert frequently shares his thoughts about his father and his commitment to upholding his legacy.
During an episode of the podcast Mental as Anyone, he expressed, “Whenever I come across a photo or video of my dad, I genuinely appreciate having his spirit around, especially at Australia Zoo. He feels omnipresent. The visuals, the sounds—they keep him integrated into my daily life.
“Losing someone at such a young age makes me cherish every fragment of him that I can reclaim. That’s the essence of my experience.”
In a conversation with ET, he remarked, “We are fortunate because, thanks to my dad’s incredible documentaries, our lives are essentially captured on television.
“All we need to do is insert the DVD, rewind, and hit play to revisit those wonderful memories. In that sense, we are truly blessed.”
On Robert’s 19th birthday, he received a touching tribute from his late father in a video compilation.
He viewed the heartfelt message at Australia Zoo and delivered an emotional speech.
Robert expressed, “It truly means everything to me. I feel incredibly honored, both personally and as part of our family, to uphold my father’s legacy. He dedicated his life to wildlife conservation and to improving the world.” The tribute features heartfelt clips of Steve sharing his thoughts on Robert’s birth and his aspirations for his son to follow in his footsteps as a crocodile hunter. He remarked that nurturing children who could perpetuate his legacy would be “the proudest moment of my life.” The video concluded with the realization of Steve’s dream, showcasing Robert as an engaged conservationist and zookeeper. After viewing the footage, Robert wiped away tears and humorously remarked, “You’re making me cry on my birthday.”
