Khelif’s journey through the Olympics has been marked by significant controversy, particularly following an incident where Italy’s Angela Carini unexpectedly called for the termination of their match just 46 seconds in, for which Carini has since expressed regret. Additionally, Khelif was previously disqualified from the International Boxing Association’s (IBA) World Championships in 2023 due to an alleged failure in a gender eligibility test.
