Even though it’s been five years since Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb worked together on the ‘Today’ show, they’ve kept in touch. Recently, on Wednesday, Hoda Kotb, who is now 59 years old, told fans what Kathie Lee Gifford has been up to.
During a segment called “Faves and Finds,” Hoda Kotb introduced a new song that Kathie Lee Gifford wrote called “3 Little Words.” Then, Hoda shared some news about her old cohost.
“By the way, Kat’s living her best life, she’s in Nashville, she’s writing music, she is living her best life,” Kotb said. “She’s playing with the cutest grandkids, putting out good music, so Kat, love you.”
Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb started hosting the fourth hour of the ‘Today’ show together in 2008. But in April 2019, Kathie Lee decided to leave, and Jenna Bush Hager took her place. The reason she left was because her husband passed away in 2015, and it made her realize that life is short. She talked about it on Jimmy Fallon’s show, saying her husband didn’t know he was going to run out of time that morning. Later, her mom also passed away.
Recently, Kathie Lee shared that she’s in a new phase of life. She’s a widow, an orphan (since both her husband and mom are gone), and her kids have moved out. This made her realize that, for the first time, she has both the time and the means to do anything she wants.
Since leaving the NBC morning show, Gifford has moved to Nashville where she’s been able to work on several projects including a book, a “dream project“, and of course watching her three grandchildren grow up.
