O.J. Simpson underwent a risky surgery and lived with a stent in his final days and months
Less than a year before his cancer diagnosis and subsequent passing, Simpson reportedly underwent emergency surgery, as reported by RadarOnline. As part of the life-saving measures, doctors put in a stent, OK! Magazine reports, in an attempt to keep his arteries clear.
Back in July, a close friend of Simpson told RadarOnline that Simpson was “terrified” of dying. “O.J.’s got it in his head that he’s going to die from a massive heart attack,” the friend elaborated. “It’s driving him crazy and adding even more stress to his troubled life. He believes he is dying in plain sight and the end is near.”
Simpson’s medical condition in his final days
Simpson announced his cancer diagnosis back in May 2023 and, to the public, expressed confidence that he could beat it. Treatment for prostate cancer reportedly began in February of 2024. His death in April was ultimately attributed to the cancer.
Earlier this year, Simpson had maintained a positive front on social media, voicing his gratitude for any words of support the former NFL icon received. “Hey, let me take a moment to say thank you to all the people who reached out to me,” he said in a video statement.
He went on, “My health is good. I mean I’m dealing with some issues but hey I think I’m just about over it and I’ll be back on that golf course hopefully in a couple of weeks. But it was very nice hearing from you and those good, positive words. Thank you.”
